A little preparation. A lot of you.
Fall & Holiday
Style Guide
Beautiful photographs start with feeling like yourself. Let’s take the “what do we wear?” stress out of your mini session.

Let’s make this easy
Coordinate your colors.
Keep everyone’s personality.
I can’t wait to photograph your people this season! Start with one outfit you love. Choose one or two statement colors from it, then build the rest of the family’s outfits around soft neutrals. Lay everything out together—you’ll quickly see what feels right.
For couples, echo a color or texture in each outfit. For bigger families, spread your colors across the group. Everyone can look like they belong together while still feeling like themselves.
01 / Choose your feeling
A palette for your season.
Earthy rust, mustard, olive, and dusty mauve feel lovely for fall. Burgundy and forest green bring a festive holiday feel. Neutrals work beautifully for either.
Warm autumn
Soft earth tones for golden leaves and garden paths.
Put it together
- A rust dress or knit sweater
- An oatmeal shirt with dark denim
- An olive cardigan over cream
- Tan boots or comfortable brown shoes
Use this as a starting point. You do not need to buy four new outfits or use every color.
02 / See it together
Real families. Easy inspiration.
A few examples from my own sessions. Notice the repeated colors, soft layers, and room for everyone to move.

Cream + rust + one little pattern
The warm trousers carry the color, cream brings everyone together, and one plaid piece adds interest.

Cozy textures + a holiday accent
Pull colors from a plaid shirt, then repeat softer tones in a knit, a bow, or simple boots.
03 / Make it yours
The little things
make a difference.
You can dress up, keep it cozy, or meet somewhere in between. The best outfit is one you feel good wearing.

I love a little holiday plaid! Start with one patterned piece and pull its colors into everyone else’s outfits. With a larger group, space patterns out and balance them with solids. A scarf or small accessory is an easy place to add a print.
Feel like dressing up?
Go for it! A flowing dress, a beautiful knit, or a tailored jacket can feel extra special. Keep everyone at a similar level of dressiness, and bring shoes that work for the walk to our meeting spot.
Comfort comes first
Try sitting, walking, bending, and picking up your little one in your outfit before session day. Choose layers for the weather and shoes you can comfortably move in. Cozy children are happier children!
Accessories & finishing touches
A favorite hat, scarf, belt, or piece of jewelry can make your outfit feel personal. Bring one or two easy options; mini sessions move quickly. Empty bulky pockets and check shoes, collars, and hair before we start.
Bringing your dog?
Please tell me ahead of time so we can confirm the location allows dogs and make a plan. Bring a leash, treats, and an adult helper who can stay with your dog while we photograph the family. Keep pets supervised and comfortable throughout the session.
What about the weather?
Dress for the forecast and bring a warm layer. Cloudy skies can make beautiful photographs! If rain, storms, or unsafe conditions require a change, I’ll contact you about another available date or a suitable alternative location.
04 / Ready, set, memories
A calmer session starts
the night before.
- Lay out everyone’s outfits, including shoes and layers.
- Pack touch-up essentials and a small comfort item for little ones.
- Complete your questionnaire through your private booking link.
- Check your reminder for the meeting spot and parking instructions.
- Plan to arrive 10 minutes early, dressed and ready.
Minis run back to back, so we start and finish at your booked times. Arriving late reduces your photo time; your signed agreement explains the booking terms.
You bring your people. I’ll help with the rest.
